Surekha Likely To Be Suspended

Hyderabad, August 05: The Congress party, which took a serious note of the MLA and former minister, Ms Konda Surekha’s frequent outbursts against the government and the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, is likely to suspend her straightaway instead of going through the usual practice of issuing a show cause notice.

According to informed sources, the Congress leadership felt that Ms Surekha, a staunch supporter of Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy, has more than once violated the party discipline and strongly criticized the government headed by Mr Rosaiah. The party leadership which has started initiating action against Jagan’s followers with an intention to cut them to size, with the suspension of senior leader and party general secretary, Mr Ambati Rambabu, would no longer take the outbursts of Surekha lightly, sources said.

Ms Surekha has commented that there was no administration in the state. She also said that the Congress lacked leadership. It is reliably learnt that Surekha’s issue has come up for discussion in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday. The Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, has earlier in the day, met the party disciplinary committee chairman and is believed to have discussed about Surekha’s hostile attitude and the steps to be taken to check her.
