CPI general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy today took serious exception to Corporate sector and business houses for creating a media hype that the nation is witnessing “Modi Wave”. Sudhakar Reddy accused these two bigwigs of pumping in thousands of crores of rupees to project Modi as future Prime Minister. He also made it clear that the BJP-TD combine would not get 270 seats needed for forming the government at the Centre. No force, including BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu can push NDA alliance to power at the Centre. He stressed the need for an “Alternative Front” at the Centre as there was no scope for the Congress to form the government.
Addressing the media at Makhdoom Bhavan along with CPI leaders Chada Venkat Reddy, Maheswaram MLA candidate Aziz Pasha and Ramanarasimha Rao, he appealed to the people to vote for CPI candidates and help its leaders to raise their issues in the legislatures. Sudhakar Reddy also flayed political parties for relying on paid news and violating election code of conduct.
Stating that there was no “Modi Wave” in the country and the general elections proved this with poor turnout of just 54 per cent of electors, the CPI leader criticized the BJP over its alliance with the Telugu Desam Party as a historical blunder. He attributed it to sheer political opportunism. Naidu’s day dreaming of dictating terms to the Centre through NDA government is highly impossible, he said. Neither the NDA nor UPA will come to power at the Centre as the people are vexed with their policies.
Sudhakar Reddy said the people are looking at other parties that can address their issues as both the Congress and BJP failed to convince them. He stated that there was no positive way ahead for the TDP Chief, who branded the BJP as a communal party in 2009 elections. He charged the RSS and BJP with promoting hatred among people. He also expressed disgust over the comments made by a BJP leader Giriraj Prasad and Nitish Gadkari with regard to their poor vote bank which is put at about 28 per cent. Finding fault with their comments, he sought to know whether the rest of the population should go to Pakistan for elections.
On the TRS distancing from the CPI which sought its alliance, Sudhakar Reddy said it was not fair on part of the Pink party. Stating that KCR should not have gone away from forging an alliance with them, he said the TRS secretary general K Keshav Rao said sorry in this regard as he could not do anything. Admitting that the people in the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh are fuming at CPI, he said they had taken a decision in favor of Telangana statehood as it was inevitable. “We will campaign with the Congress for winning in the elections in both regions”, he added.
