Expressing his support towards the demands of the agitating Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) workers who are on a strike over the non-payment of their dues, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that he hoped a solution will emerge after the hearing next week. “I support demand of protesting MCD employees that they should get their full salaries. I hope some solution will emerge after Tuesday HC hearing,” Kejriwal tweeted.
He also lauded the efforts of the Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) who are working to clear up the growing pile of garbage across the city in the wake of the indefinite strike. “I am told PWD people and trucks worked whole night to clean up garbage. I would urge all AAP volunteers to help PWD,” Kejriwal said.
Meanwhile, a meeting was underway between PWD Satyendra Jain and the North and East MCD commissioners at the former’s residence. Earlier, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) took to the streets to clear up the growing pile of garbage across the national capital.
Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel lead a team in Shahdara while Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia got to work in Patparpanj. AAP ministers Kapil Mishra and Imran Hussain were also seen in action at Karawal Nagar and Ballimaran respectively with party volunteers.
Earlier, Jain set up a task force to clean up the piling garbage across the national capital and deployed around 100 trucks with ten workers each to clean up the city. The indefinite strike by the MCD workers has entered its fifth day today as they have shown no signs of backing down from their agitation so far.
