Support for CM growing by the day

Hyderabad, May 14: Support for Chief Minister K Rosaiah, who is being targeted by Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, is increasing by the day. If it was Panchayat Raj Minister B Satyanarayana and Sanatnagar MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy yesterday, it was Endowments Minister Gade Venkata Reddy, Government Whip S Sailajanath and MLC R Padma Raju who took on Jagan today.

Venkat Reddy advised Jagan Mohan Reddy to have ‘patience’ and not to jump to conclusions on implementation of programmes launched by late YS Rajasekhara Reddy. “The chief minister was deeply hurt with his remarks. In fact, our (ministers’) wish is to implement all programmes and schemes launched by the late leader. If there are any problems Jagan Mohan Reddy could bring them to the notice of the chief minister,’’ he said.

Replying to questions at a press conference at the Congress legislature party office, Government whip S Sailajanath and MLC R Padma Raju said they would disagree with Jagan Mohan Reddy’s contention that YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s programmes were being diluted.

In reality, the present government was trying its best to implement all programmes introduced by the late leader.

Though the targets were clear, problems were being witnessed at the field level and steps have been taken to rectify them to ensure that `justice’ was meted to all eligible persons in the state. “We hope that an experienced person like Rosaiah will definitely have a review of irrigation projects taken up under Jalayagnam programme in order to take up works on a priority basis,’’’ they added.

Replying to a query, the Government whip made it clear that the party’s interests were more important than other issues.

The state government was committed to take ahead all programmes introduced by late Rajasekhara Reddy.

Jagan Mohan Reddy, who appeared a little less vitriolic in his attack on the government today, at a Prajapatham programme in Mamillapalli in Kadapa district, however, said that the government had failed to release Rs 31 crore funds towards bank linkages to SHGs and reimbursement of loan interest for the year 2008-09 and 2009-10, even though the district collector had sent the proposals twice or thrice to chief minister. He opined that reimbursement of interest amount and bank linkages will bring smiles to the faces of women.
