Supermodel KCR adds bite to Andhra menu

Hyderabad, July 17: Call it a lip-smacking ad campaign or call it a simple mix of politics and a spicy menu. The man who has evoked severe criticism from his own party cadre of late, Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrasekhar Rao, is proving to be a lucky marketing mascot.

A restaurant owner in the city hit upon a novel idea and has used KCR’s caricature for an Andhra Food festival with a caption that says “Even Telangana heroes will love it”. The innovative poster has had several people flocking to the restaurant to sample the Andhra fare.

But TRS followers are not amused.

They are upset that the restaurant has shown their leader in ‘poor light’. And this association with an Andhra food festival following the party’s severe drubbing in the polls is proving to be an embarrassment.

Moksh restaurant is organising an Andhra food festival that will continue till July 19 and Kingfisher is sponsoring the festival. Popular coastal Andhra dishes like Bommidayal Pulusu, Peethala iguru, Ulava chaaru, Nellore chicken, Chepala pulusu are being served at the festival. Gutti Vankaya Kura, Pulihora, Andhra pulao and Raagi Sankati are also part of the vegetarian menu.

The Moksh management set up several costly hoardings at crucial points in the city bearing KCR’s caricature. Restaurant officials claim that the food is being relished by all sections of people and that the ad has indeed served its purpose.

Restaurant Manager Naveen told Expresso that they had used the KCR caricature in good faith. “If anyone objects we will remove the advertisement,” he said.

Meanwhile, TRS youth wing leader B Rammohan took strong objection to the ad campaign. “We will convey our feelings to the Moksh restaurant manager.

If they do not react positively, they will have to face our wrath,” he said.
