‘Super Cup a commitment of AIFF with the sponsor’

New Delhi, May 23: All India Football Federation today said it has a commitment to hold the season-ending Super Cup and decision on the one-off contest will be taken in a couple of days.

I-League champions Dempo had sent a letter to the AIFF, suggesting that their Super Cup match against Federation Cup winners East Bengal may not be held as its players are not interested in it after a long season.

“The decision about playing the Super Cup is a commitment AIFF has with the sponsor. AIFF has no objection if the sponsor wants to hold the prize distribution at any other time with an appropriate function,” AIFF General Secretary Alberto Colaco told PTI.

“A decision about this (Super Cup) will be taken in a day or two,” he added.
