Sunandas death have raised more eye brows now after 6 days ,the mystery over Sunanda Pushkar’s death deepened on Wednesday with the latest revelation hinting at a scuffle before her death.
In the latest details emerging out of Sunanda’s forensic report, a deep bite mark was found on her hand. Her upper extremity was dotted with over a dozen of injury marks on hand, an arm, chin, and neck and these were termed as ‘scuffle marks’, sources said.
The autopsy report of Sunanda has attributed her death to poisoning by drug overdose, while ruling out the ‘scuffle marks’ as minor injuries.
SONS STATEMENT :
Sunanda’s son from her second marriage, Shiv Menon had yesterday issued a statement, denying any possible role of Shashi Tharoor in his mother’s death.
“ Shashi and my mother were very much in love despite their occasional differences. What the media reports have been alleging and implying in regard to my mother’s death is not just untrue, it’s outrageous.
She was too strong to commit suicide. I also do not believe that Shashi was capable of physically harming her, let alone the speculation that he could have taken her life. It ( her death) was an unfortunate combination of media stress, tensions and a wrong mix of different medication. Her death was peaceful, she passed in her sleep. Please let her soul rest.Sunanda’s son Shiv in a statement issued on Wednesday .
Servants statement :
Narayan, who had accompanied Sunanda to Kerela earlier this month, in his statement to SDM has confirmed that the couple had strained relationship and were fighting, which often turned ‘loud and sometimes physical.’
BROTHERS STATEMENT :
However, Sunanda’s brother Rajesh, in his statement to police has maintained that she never complained about Tharoor and was happy with the marriage. Apart from three major injury on wrist, chin and neck, doctors at AIIMS claim that she had more than a dozen brazen scuffle marks on the upper part of her body.
Nalini in her two-page statement to SDM stated that Sunanda had called her around 12:10am on January 17 and was crying. She also mentioned Tharoor’s alleged relationship with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar.
Tharoor’s wife Sunanda was found dead in Hotel Leela Palace on Jan 17, just a couple of days after an open spat on Twitter that threw spotlight on the couple’s personal life and a Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar.
Medicines : ‘ ALPRAX DOSE NOT FATAL’
FORENSIC experts have virtually ruled out the role of Alprax, an antidepressant, in Sunanda Pushkar’s death. It’s unlikely, they say, that Sunanda would have died of an Alprax overdose unless it was consumed with some other drug or its consumption was complicated due to some inherent disease.
“ A person of her weight needs to consume more than 225 tablets to cause death,” said Dr. K. L. Sharma, a forensic expert. “ It is unlikely that overdose could cause death…. people survive even if a patient takes 100 times more dosage,” said Dr. N. P. Singh.
Experts believe that viscera examination will not be enough to ascertain how Sunanda died of poisoning. Histopathology is a must, they say.
The police meanwhile urged the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) to speed up on Sunanda’s viscera report, which might have clues to the mystery.Politcal tussel between Congress and allies NCP leader DP Tripathi said that Union Minister Shashi Tharoor must quit till the investigation is over.
However, the Congress has rejected any such remark, saying there was no question of resignation.
Congress spokesperson Randip Surjewala, at the AICC briefing, said, “Tharoor is in a responsible ministerial position. He is also an inseparable part of Congress. There is no question of his resignation”.
The doctors and the SDM, however, did not disclose the exact substance that caused the ‘poisoning’ as both are awaiting the toxicology report of the viscera. The viscera report, which normally takes many weeks or even months, would most likely be submitted soon in this case.
The SDM has recorded statements of Shashi Tharoor, his personal assistant Rajesh Kumar, his consultant Shiv Kumar, Sunanda’s two brothers, Rajesh and Ashish, her son, Shiv Menon, two doctors, personal assistant of Sunnada, Narayan, driver Bajrangi and senior journalist Nalini Singh.
Delhi police would now be re-examining the CCTV footage of the hotel, mobile phones of Sunanda and call detail records of everybody involved in the case. Police would also be scanning the laptop Sunanda and Tharoor to get more details of the conversations.
