Sunanda could have had 30 sleeping pills

Sources in the police said they have found three empty strips of Alprax ( 0.5mg) from her hotel room after the death of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of union minister Shashi Tharoor. The investigation revealed or indicates that 52- year- old Sunanda may have committed suicide by consuming sleeping pills in large numbers.

Alprax, a kind of sedative that induces sleep and is used to treat moderate to severe nervousness disorders and panic attacks.

Tharoor got “aghasted” with the “harebrained” speculation widespread in the media about his wife’s death, he has written a letter to Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde requesting for a probe into the death and has offered his full cooperation.

In the letter, Tharoor requested that the relevant authorities be asked to speed up the investigation and come to a rapid conclusion so that the truth come into sight as soon as possible regarding the death of 52- year- old Pushkar .

The minister’s letter stated:

“ In the midst of my mourning, “I have finally had a chance to catch up with the media reports and am horrified to read the reckless speculation rampant there,”I pleaded you to issue instructions to the relevant authorities to speed up their investigation and come to a rapid conclusion so that the truth emerges at the earliest,”.

According to AIIMS doctors, who conducted her post- mortem examination, have said Pushkar had died a sudden, unnatural death. Her body bore some physical injuries but it was not clear if they were related to her death ,said by a member of the autopsy team.
