Sultan Bazar shop owners observe bandh today

Hyderabad, July 1: The shop owners of Sultan bazaar and its surrounding areas who are affected by the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project have announced to observe bandh on July 1. They are demanding for change in project design and alignment. They say that some religious and historic buildings of the area would be destroyed by the project. Businessmen of Telangana Rashtra Samithi have announced their full support to the bandh.

TRS leader Dr. Shrawan while addressing a press conference here demanded change in metro rail project design. He claimed that TRS is demanding this right from the beginning that historic buildings are protected but the government was heedless towards the demand.

He asserted that the project design was approved without taking public opinion into account although public hearing should have been arranged even before the commencement of the project.
