Sultan Bazar Traders Association here on Tuesday observed total bandh demanding that the State government protect the historic Badi Chowdi Market by diverting the Metro Corridor-II route alignment.
The traders downed their shutters and raised slogans against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar and displayed placards. The protestors recalled that KCR, during the height of Telangana movement, had assured them that he would protect Sultan Bazar and Badi Chowdi markets under any circumstances. But after becoming Chief Minister, KCR has changed his tune saying that he would spare only Sultan Bazar market from the Metro corridor alignment, they said, adding that Badi Chowdi is a part of Sultan Bazar market. Questioning sincerity of Chief Minister over his promises, the traders made it clear that they would continue their agitation till the Metro corridor-II was diverted. (NSS)
