Mumbai, September 01: Noted playback singer Sukhvinder Singh, who has lend his voice to many charbusters including `Jai Ho` from Oscar-winning `Slumdog Millionaire`, has decided to test his acting skills and is all set to make his onscreen debut with `Khudi Ko Kar Bulund Itna`.
Sukhvinder, who has given hit numbers like `Jalwa` (Fashion) and `Dhan Te Dhan` (Kaminey) more recently, said he chose this movie because he identified closely with the film`s subject.
“What I am doing in the film is no different from my singing. A celebrity is also a common man and also feels that he can contribute to the society in some way or the other. The hero of the film is the message it seeks to convey,” he told
reporters.
To a question on why he chose to tread the path on which his contemporaries like Sonu Nigam failed, Sukhvinder said, “I will learn from others` mistakes.”
On if he would continue acting as a supplementary profession, the singer said he has not given a thought to it.
Actor Surendra Pal, who is also part of the cast, said late Kishore Kumar was also a successful singer and actor.
“Look at the positive side also. Sukhvinder sings from his heart and a good actor is one who gives his heart to his craft,” he said. `Khudi..` produced and directed by Jagbir Dahiya, is a social film dealing with contemporary and relevant issues. Its a journey of a man meeting his destiny and coming to terms with his own self, he said.
The movie is slated to release this year-end or early next year.
