Mumbai: The State Election Commission (SEC) today said objections and suggestions on electoral roll for 10 municipal corporations, 26 Zilla Parishads and 296 Panchayat Samitis have been invited between January 12 to 17 next year.
Elections to the local bodies are scheduled in February in 2017.
State Election Commissioner J S Saharia told reporters that objections and suggestions will be received from January 12 to 17 and final roll will be published on January 21.
The assembly constituency wise electoral roll as per January 1, 2017 will be used for these local body polls. The supplementary electoral roll prepared as per the new enrollment conducted between September 16 and October 21 will be published on January 5, 2017.
The ten corporations going to polls are Mumbai, Thane, Ulhasnagar, Nashik, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Solapur, Amravati, Akola and Nagpur.
The total voter population in these ten corporations is 2,57,19,093. The total seats on which election will be contested are 1,268. The voter population for Zilla Parishad is 5,26,92,534 and the total number of seats on which elections will be fought are 1,568.
The voters for Panchayat Samitis are 5,24,14,683 for 3,116 seats.
