Sugar prices up on fresh demand

New delhi: Sugar prices improved by Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today on fresh buying by stockists and bulk consumers, triggered by beginning a new month amid wedding season demand.

Marketmen said increased buying by stockists and bulk consumers following beginning of a new month, mainly led to rise in sweetener prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices inquired higher at Rs 4,020-4,100 and Rs 4,010-,4,090 per quintal as against previous close of Rs 4,000-4,100 and Rs 3,990-4,090 to end.

Likewise, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices quoted higher from Rs 3,670-3,800 and Rs 3,660-3,790 to settle at Rs 3,700-3,800 and Rs 3,690-3,790 per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar Khatuli and Dhanora rose by Rs 30 each to Rs 3,780 and Rs 3,750 per quintal.

In line with overall trend, Mawana, Dhampur, Modinagar and Chandpur also moved up by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,730, Rs 3,700, Rs 3,720 and Rs 3,700 per quintal respectively.
