Sugar prices decline

Navi Mumbai, April 19: Wholesale sugar prices declined for the third straight day today on lack of demand from stockists, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchant’s Association (BSMA) said.

Small and medium grades fell by Rs 40 and Rs 30 per quintal respectively on sluggish demand from industrial users, traders said.

In ex-mill, small and medium grade sugar too declined by Rs 30 per quintal each on heavy selling pressure from stock holders, traders added.

Following were the spot wholesale rates of sugar per quintal in Rupees.

Small grade: Rs 2,810/2,870, Medium grade: 2,880/2,940.

Ex-mill small grade: Rs 2,740/2,775 and medium grade: Rs 2,800/2,840.
