Sudhir Commission’s tenure extended by one month

Hyderabad: Govt. of Telangana has decided to extend the tenure of office of Sudhir Commission of Inquiry which was established to review educational and economic backwardness of the Muslims. This extension has been proposed in order to help BCs Commission in the preparation of final report for reservations to Muslims.

Reliable sources indicated that CM of Telangana State, Mr. KCR returned the file to Dept. of Minorities Welfare extending the term of office of Sudhir Commission of Inquiry. It is hoped that very soon, orders will be issued.

It may be mentioned that the term of office of Sudhir Commission of Inquiry was to end on 31st December. Govt. had set up this commission under the chairmanship of Mr. G. Sudhir, IAS (Retd.). The other members of the commission are Prof. Adus Shaban, Dr. Amerullah Khan and Mr. Mohammed Abdul Bari. The term of office of the commission was extended twice every time giving extension for 6 months and the third time, its term was extended by three months.

It may be mentioned that within a short span of 18 months, Commissioned submitted its report to the Govt. in August 2016. Experts opine that if Govt. is serious about providing reservations to Muslims, it should have extended the term of office of the commission, at least for another three months since there is no expert member in Backward Classes Commission which has recently been formed. It also does not have any Muslim member. In such a situation, BCs Commission is going to start public hearing commencing today.

With the presence of Sudhir Commission of Inquiry, great help could be sought to BCs Commission. Recently, the members of BCs Commission met the chairman and members of Sudhir Commission of Inquiry to get its repot and the details of the survey it conducted.
