Doctors of Yashoda Hospital Secunderabad have performed a successful lung transplantation of a woman. Led by A.G.K. Gokhale, Chief Cardiothoracic, transplant and minimal access surgeon and senior consultant anaesthetist, G. Subramanyam, the 30-member team performed a rare lung transplantation of a woman whose lungs were not working. Both her lungs had become stiff and oxygen did not go into the blood through the lungs. she was surviving on external supply of oxygen.
Now the woman is fine. This is the first lung transplant successfully done in the State, the hospital said.
