Subsidized mopeds for fishermen: Lakshma Reddy

Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy today dropped about two lakh fish seed into Pedda Cheruvu at Nasrullabad village of Jadcherla Mandal in Mahbubnagar district.

Speaking later, the minister said the State government will provide all help to fishermen community to have self-respect and revive their profession to empower them financially. Stating that a fishermen building will be built in the district, he said Mopeds (two-wheelers) to the fishermen will be offered on 50 to 75 per cent subsidy to sell the fish. He also said the fishermen will get better transport and marketing facility.

The minister said the previous governments failed to revive the old community professions. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has plans to empower community professions by offering sheep units to Yadavas and fish to the fishermen, he said. Giving Bathhukamma Sarees helped the handloom workers and made womenfolk happy, he said, adding that the local lakes and water bodies will be filled with Krishna waters to boost minor irrigation and increase agriculture production.
