The Supreme Court on Monday deferred the hearing on Sahara’s Rs 20, 000 crores refund case without announcing the next date for hearing.
This would mean that Sahara Chief Subrata Roy will have to remain in prison for some more time. The Sahara Chief and two directors of the conglomerate have been sent to judicial custody after the group failed to appear in connection with a case in which his company was directed to return Rs. 20,000 crore to investors On March 4, Roy had offered to sell his property to pay his dues but the apex court refused. The order to arrest Roy was issued on February 26. He was lodged in a guest house of the state forest department at Kukrail in Lucknow after a local court directed the state police to keep him in its custody till March 4. (ANI)
