Sub-Inspector held for blackmailing and allegedly trying to rape girl

A Sub-Inspector was detained for allegedly trying to rape a college girl in a lodge at Belgaum on Thursday evening.

The accused has been identified as A K Nadaf, attached to the Khade Bazaar police station, Belgaum.

According to sources, the victim Aruna (name changed), is an II PUC science student, hails from Karwar was allegedly being blackmailed by Nadaf into having a physical relationship with him. He had allegedly raped her six times in different lodges in the past, by threatening her. He was caught trying to rape her a seventh time.

Jana Shakti Yuvak Sanghatna president Madhav Naik and his friend Rajesh Gaonkar, who helped rescue Aruna from Nadaf, told Express how the victim was trapped and harassed by the accused.

According to Naik said Aruna, who is staying as a paying guest in Belgaum, had fallen in love with a youth about a year ago. When the parents came to they rushed to Belgaum and found their daughter missing. They filed a case in June 2013 at the Khade Bazaar police station, suspecting their daughter was kidnapped.

When Aruna was traced, in which Nadaf was the investigating officer in the case, she underwent medical tests which showed that she had become pregnant and had undergone an abortion. Taking advantage of Aruna’s state, Nadaf allegedly started blackmailing her.
