Telangana Government is planning to come up with a policy for the welfare and protection of orphans and street children in the state.
A Cabinet Sub Committee today held a meeting at Secretariat here on Monday afternoon and taken stock of the welfare measures to be taken up for the orphans. Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari chaired a high level review meeting attended by Finance Minister Etala Rajender and Welfare and Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna. It is learnt that they have discussed on the important issue of taking welfare steps on behalf of the government which is ought to announce a policy or steps to cater to their needs. The Sub Committee was directed to submit a report to the government after preparing modalities at the earliest, it is learnt. The TRS Government is mulling options whether to announce a permanent policy that is likely to be adopted. Taking cue from Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the sub committee is learnt to have focused on the issue which needs timely financial allocations to provide them shelter and food in twin cities and district head quarters. The Committee is to submit a report to the chief minister for taking a final call on the welfare measures and steps for protection of the orphans and street children.(NSS)
