Students hold protest at Secretariat, CM camp office

Hundreds of students held massive protest on Friday at the State Secretariat and camp office of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao demanding immediate payment of scholarships and fee reimbursement.

Nearly 200 students, associated with the All India Students Federation, held massive demonstration at the State Secretariat. They alleged that the State Government has completely neglected the welfare of students’ community. Besides delay in release of scholarships, lakhs of students have been facing problems due to lack of clarity on Financial Assistance for Students of Telangana (FAST) scheme. They alleged that the State Government did not issue guidelines for FAST and for the same reason the scheme was rejected by the High Court.

The Hyderabad City Police took some AISF activists into custody when they tried to barge into the Secretariat. They were later shifted to Goshamahal Stadium and released on personal bond.

A similar protest was held at the CM’s camp office at Begumpet by the activists of Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU). They demanded immediate release of scholarships and implementation of FAST scheme. (INN)
