Hyderabad, November 18: The three Enginering students of Visveswarayya College of Engineering at Ibrahimpatnam on the outskirts of the city, who were arrested yesterday for allegedly ragging a first year student, were released on bail today.
According to police, the arrested- Karthik, Rohit and Prem Kumar- were produced before the Magistrate last evening.
The trio were accused of harrassing a first year student Dinesh by forcing him buy them cigarettes and recharge coupons for their mobile phones and host a party for them.
Recently, Karthik had picked up a quarrel with Dinesh on a petty matter and slapped him. After that Rohit and Prem Kumar too assaulted the victim accusing him of not showing respect to them.
A case under Section 4 of Anti-Ragging Act was registered against them, police said.
While Karthik was a second year student, Rohit and Prem Kumar were detained in the first year having failed in their exams.
However, they used to behave like seniors with the victim, police added.
