Kanpur, November 30: Meanness and criminality are nothing new to the industrial city of Kanpur. But what came to the fore on Monday at a press conference held by the city top cops was spine chilling enough to give the bravest heart goose bumps. As the cops introduced three 20-somethings to the media, as one’s who carried out the killings of an elderly couple at 127/423 W 1 Saket Nagar on October 29, people were shocked and sorry at what they were hearing.
The trio admitted that when they were killing their one-time teacher and his wife, they sought forgiveness from them and informed that four years back they had been given shelter and food by the deceased in the same house. Not only this, the teacher had also imparted free education to them.
The three were arrested by the Babupurwa police near the Deep Cinema at around noon. The accused – Varun Yadav, Shafeeq Alam and Ajay Pal Singh told the police that murders of the senior citizens was not on their mind but were forced to do so for fear of being identified. They confessed that they had gone to the house of Jagdamba Prasad on pretext of meeting him.
Varun then asked “auntie” to make tea and as she did so, smsed his friend to come over. The trio were armed with blades. As they began to carry out the loot, the teacher called one of them by name and it was then that they attacked them with blades. But when they realized that blades were “not enough to silence them” they brought knifes from the kitchen and slit their throats.
They had escaped from the roof top and had kept the door of the first floor open so as to mislead the police team. Police has since recovered blood stained knives, Rs 1500 in case and coins worth Rs 250.
