Students-cops clash: OU exam postponed

Hyderabad, July 06: The Osmania University has postponed all the examinations scheduled from tomorrow due to the clash between police and pro-Telangana students in support of their demand for granting statehood to Telangana region

“All the OU exams to be held from July 7-11 are postponed. There will be no change in the exams schedule beginning from July 12. The revised dates of the postponed exams will be announced later,” the Registrar of the University said.

Similarly, the entrance tests for part-time PG courses in Engineering at College of Engineering on the varsity campus to be held on July 9 and 10 are also postponed.

Meanwhile, the University of Hyderabad–a Central University here notified that interview for admission to different courses/programmes (for shortlisted candidates) offered at the University for the academic year 2011-12 would be conducted on July 12.

The decision was taken to facilitate the shortlisted candidates who could not attend interview in view of the 48-hour Telangana region bandh being observed by different pro-Telangana organisations.

The OU campus which has turned into the nerve centre for the separate Telangana (with series of pro-Telangana protests since November 2009) movement has earlier also seen repeated postponement of examinations owing to the agitation.

Pro-Telangana students at the campus and constituent colleges had boycotted the exams in December last year and early this year.
