Hyderabad: Students studying at Osmania University now may get a chance to study at the University of Missouri St. Louis in the United States (UMSL), who opt for MS Chemistry, MS Computer Science, MA Communication and MBA. As per a decision of OU, the University would offer dual degree courses in partnership with UMSL from June this year.
The Vice-Chancellor of OU, Prof. S Ramachandram, in a video conference with UMSL officials on Sunday decided the subjects for the programme. In a five year integrated MS Chemistry course, three years will be held in OU and two years in UMSL. While MS Computer Science-BTech which will be for five years; four years in OU and one year in UMSL. Similarly, MA Communication and MBA will also have one year at UMSL.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Prof. Ramachandram said students will be selected based on the merit and they will get subsidised tuition fee at UMSL.
“The new programmes will help students get international exposure. The OU alumni association has extended its support for the courses,” the OU VC said, adding that the varsity will explore the option of overseas scholarship extended by the State government to help students study abroad. About 10 students each of the four courses will get an opportunity to study at Missouri University.
The University said that the Deepak Vyas Foundation will partially fund students and is also keen on setting up an endowment fund.
