Student sexual assault case: NCW team visits Kanpur

Kanpur, November 02: Mother of a 12-year-old sexual assault victim today told a National Commission for Women (NCW) team here that the Kanpur police was “harassing” the family while probing the case of her daughter, district administration sources said.

During the visit of a two-member NCW team to the victim’s house, the mother of the girl student, who died on September 27 following the incident, accused the Kanpur police of “harassing” her family in connection with the case, they said.

Demanding a CBI enquiry, she said she was not satisfied with the CB-CID probe ordered by the government and had no faith in the district police.

The NCW team today arrived in the city to enquire about the progress made in the case.

District Magistrate Mukesh Meshram said the team also visited the Bharatiya Gyan Sthali School and interacted with teachers and the staff there.
