Hyderabad, November 12: An engineering student ended his life by jumping before a speeding Vijayawada- Secunderabad Inter-City Express train at Ghatkesar late Tuesday night.
The deceased, V Krishnakanth (18), was a secondyear B.Tech student of Aurora Engineering College at Bandlaguda. He hailed from Vedere village in Karimnagar district and was staying at Uppal here to pursue his studies.
Though he said in his suicide note that he was ending his life due to `depression,’ police said the reasons for his depressed state of mind were yet to be known.
The student’s family, however, alleged that he took his life as the college authorities did not allow him to attend his semester examinations recently due to shortage of attendance.
According to Secunderabad railway police inspector N Ashok Kumar.
Krishnakanth’s letter read like this: “I am in depression.
Sorry to my family and friends. Mummy, Daddy and friends, I love you.’’ Krishnakanth is learnt to have fallen ill recently and not attended the college.
As his attendance fell short, the college authorities allegedly did not permit him to take the examinations.
“Krishnakanth did not mention a word in his note about his college or denial of permission to write examination,’’ Ashok Kumar said. Police have registered a case of suspicious death and are investigating.
