CID Additional Director General of Police T. Krishna Prasad has stated that one Undavalli Girish of P. Rajavaram village under Jeelugumilli Mandal of West Godavari District was arrested on Thursday for creating fake Facebook profile of his course-mate in a Software Training Institution, Ameerpet and sending threatening calls to her.
Krishna Prasad has stated that one person of Mahbubnagar district lodged a complaint with Cyber Crime PS on September 24, 2012 stating that a fake Facebook profile on his daughter’s name with her personal photographs was created and the accused was sending abusive and threatening calls. The police registered the complaint in Cr.No.86/2012 U/s.66-A IT Act 2000 and Sec.506, 509 IPC.
Inspector of Police, Cyber Crime PS, CID, Hyderabad K.Srinivasa Rao investigated the case and identified the accused. The accused admitted to his crime that he had made abusive and threatening calls to the victim’s father with dire consequences that he would spoil the career and character of victim, if they didn’t agree to his marriage with the victim.
The investigating officer seized a BSNL SIM card used for making abusive and threatening calls from the accused and remanded him to judicial custody. (NSS)
