AGRA: Two unidentified persons allegedly mixed “rat poison” in the water cooler of a madrassa run by former Vice President Hamid Ansari’s wife Salma, The Times of India reported on Monday.
Accpring to reports, a student named Mohammed Afzal spotted the two miscreants doing something mischievous and informed the warden.
On Friday evening, Afzal went to have water but saw two men putting tablets in a water cooler.
When he questioned them what they were doing, another person sitting on a fence threatened him with country-made pistol to keep quiet.
After the two escaped, Afzal picked up the wrapper of rat poison which was left behind by them near the cooler and alerted the warden.
After the incident, the water cooler has been sealed and the water samples have been sent to forensic Lab for testing.
Salma Ansari heads the Madrassa Chacha Nehru located in Aligarh which is in turn is run by Al Noor Charitable Society. It houses at least 4,000 kids.
Calling the incident ‘shocking and scary’, Salma Ansari said a police complaint is filed against are on the lookout for two unidentified suspects.
A case under Section 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) and Section 506 (criminal intimidation) has been registered against two unidentified persons.
“Following the incident, we have decided to install CCTV cameras in the 18-year-old charitable institution which has 4000 students on its rolls,” she was quoted TOI as saying.
Vice-President Hamid Ansari, in the last days of his tenure, has received flak from a lot of right-wing groups after he said, in an television interview that Muslims in India “feeling uneasy and a sense of insecurity is creeping in”.
