The Port City police today registered a case against Principal of a public school here for allegedly beating up a student of fourth class for conversing in Telugu. According to police here, The MSN English Medium Public school Principal N S N Murthy has been booked under section 324 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after parents of nine-year-old Pavani lodged a complaint. Mr Murthy was taken into custody for questioning. According to the complaint, the Principal summoned Pavani to his chamber and beaten her up with a scroll after he found her talking in Telugu with fellow student in class room a couple of days ago. According to sources in the school, speaking in English is the norm at the institution. The child sustained injuries on her right hand and forearm and has been sent to Government King George Hospital (KGH) for treatment.UNI
