Student among 3 killed in mishaps

New Delhi, June 21: Three people were killed in separate accidents in the city in the past 24 hours.
A 21-year-old MBA student died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on Friday afternoon. According to police, Lal Mohammad was a resident of Sahibabad, UP. “He had gone to Jamia Millia University. Later, as he was going towards Sarai Kale Khan ISBT he was hit by an unknown vehicle near the Maharani Bagh crossing,” said an officer.

Sources said that an auto-driver found the student in a seriously injured condition and took him to a hospital in Pandav Nagar. Doctors at the hospital informed the police. As the student’s condition deteriorated, the police shifted him to Max Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. “A case of death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered at the New Friends Colony police station against the unknown driver,” said an officer.

In another accident on Friday night, Mohammad Iqbal (29), a resident of Tejpur Pahari, was run over by a truck near the ESI Hospital in Govindpuri in southeast district. He died at the spot. The truck driver, Suresh, was arrested and his truck impounded. Late on Friday night, an unknown biker was also mowed down by an unknown vehicle at NH-24 near Pandav Nagar.
