A thief plans of theft remains a dream after he got stuck into chimney.
According to locals, Indira of Ambedkarnagar colony went to a neighouring village after locking up the house. Sensing an opportunity, a mischievous thief, Bhargav, tried to sneak into the house.
Instead of picking the lock or trying to break the door, Bhargav tried to enter the house from the chimney, which is a feature of many homes here, where wood-fired stoves are used. Half way through, in the middle of the night, Bhargav realized he was stuck in the smoke stack.
Bhargav got wedged in the chimney when his chest got stuck. Only his hands were visible outside, when residents heard his calls for help at 6.30 am. Hearing Bhargav’s cries for help, the gathered locals tried to help the clumsy thief. They also called the police.
By this time, Indira, the houseowner, returned and when she opened the door of the kitchen she could see the legs of Bhargav dangling from the chimney on the steel drums.
The police reached at about 8 a.m. and with the help of workers and locals, they began the delicate work of freeing Bhargav from the chimney stack. The police spent nearly one-and-a -half hour to break into the smoke chimney and rescue Bhargav from it.
Police later shifted a dehydrated and traumatised Bhargav to Siddipet Government Hospital for treatment as he was stuck in the chimney whole night.
Siddipet Town CI, K Saidulu, said that a case has been registered based on the complaint filed by house owner Indira and law will take its course. Meanwhile, the condition of Bhargav is stated to be stable.
