Various Minorities organizations recorded their protests on the action taken by the Dept. of Minorities Welfare for refunding the allocated budget amounts earmarked for various Welfare schemes concerning the development of Minorities. In a press conference held yesterday the leaders of All India Muslim Minorities organization told that at the Central Govt. level Rs. 587 crore are being returned to Govt. as unspent balance which testify to the inaction and incompetence of the officials to implement various schemes. They expressed regret that in our state also there are many issues which remain unattended for want of sufficient funds. Various posts in Urdu Academy, Minorities Finance Corporation have not been filled up. They also demanded to fill up vacancies of Urdu medium teachers and lecturers.
To refund the allocated budget is cheating the Minorities. This only shows that Prime Minister is 15 point programme is not being implemented in letter and spirit. Chief Minister announced the construction of Haj House but no preliminary work was done for acquiring lands etc. There are many colleges which have not been receiving scholarship amounts and fees reimbursement. They mentioned the steps taken by the TDP Govt. for Minorities. They also demanded to stop the action taken by the Dept. of Minorities Welfare for refunding the amounts to the Govt. They also impressed upon the Govt. to appoint officers who have sympathy for the cause of Minorities and who are keen to implement welfare programmes for the benefit of Minorities.
If their demands are not met, they threatened to resort to severe agitation. The leaders who addressed the press conference include Mr. M.A. Siddiqui, Mr. Zaheeruddin, Mr. Syed Mukhtar Hussain, Mr. Mohammed Nawab and others.
