Some 800 employees working in Andhra Bank Zone I, II and head office on Wednesday held a protest demonstration at Saifabad as part of the two-day All India Bank strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU).
All India Andhra Bank Award Employees’ Union (affiliated to AIBEA) treasurer N V Ramana, in a pressnote stated that the strike in Andhra Bank was hundred percent as all the 17,000 employees of the bank participated in the strike. As a result, the transactions in all the 1,750 branches of the bank came to a grinding halt.
All India Andhra Bank Award Employees’ Union general secretary T Ravindranath, chairman B S R Mohan Reddy and deputy general secretary B V V Kondala Rao addressed the demonstrators. The demonstration was led by R Veerabhadra Rao, zonal secretary, Hyderabad Zone I, P. Uday Bhaskar, zonal secretary, Hyderabad Zone II and M Surender Reddy, head office zonal secretary.
They stated that the protest demonstrations will be held on Thursday also on second day of the strike as planned earlier. (NSS)
