Stress on the implementation of RTE Act

There are 815 High Schools in Greater Hyderabad Municipal area out of which more than 75% schools are working in private buildings. Govt. has to pay the rents of these buildings since 1997.

Some NGO’s presented the statistics to the officials of Rajiv Vidya Mission and pointed out that in Hyderabad 2800 schools are likely to be closed down whereas Govt. proposes to establish one school in every slum colony. It is the bounden duty of the Govt. to open schools in slum areas.

According to the reports prepared by GHMC, there are 1100 slum areas. Rajiv Vidya Mission had organized this programme in Jubilee Hall to elicit information about educational scenario in Hyderabad City.

Dr. Shailajanath, Minister for Primary Education attended the meeting and stressed the need to take necessary steps for the implementation of Right To Education Act sincerely. Mr. Mohammed Masooduddin Ahmed of AP Urdu Teachers’ Federation invited the attention of the Minister towards the deplorable situation of primary school education in the city. He demanded the Minister to provide basic amenities to Govt. Schools. He pointed out that DSC notification is likely to be issued very soon. It is hoped that the recruitments of teachers would take place.

Dr. Shailajanath assured the Director of Rajiv Vidya Mission that new schools would be opened very soon. Mr. Mohammed Masood Ahmed pointed out that Govt. started “Success” schools. Under this scheme, the first batch took the SSC examination this year but so far the recruitments of all the teachers for these special schools have not been made. In such a case, how can we expect good results when suitable teachers have not been appointed?
