(Siasat News) On the basis of the suggestion made by Union Minister of Social justice, Mr. Mukul Wasnik, Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy agreed to set up special courts to deal with the cases of atrocities on S.Cs. and S.Ts.
A meeting of the Parliamentary committee was held at Jubilee Hall yesterday under the chairmanship of Mr. Mukul Wasnik, in which a review was made about Civil Rights Act of 1955 and Eradication of atrocities Act of 1989.
Later, talking to newsmen, Mr. Wasnik told that in 2010, under Erdication of Atrocities Act of 1989, 38,449 cases pertaining to S.Cs and S.Ts. were registered. U.P registered 6,272 and A.P. 5.074. the national rate of punishment under this Act is 31% whereas in A.P. it is 13% the rate of adjournment of cases in the country is 80% whereas in A.P. it is 70%.
He stressed the State Govt. to constitute special courts for the speedy disposal of these cases. C.M. Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy assured that he will take steps n this directions. He also gave an assurance that monitoring committees would e constituted at State and districts levels to review the cases of atrocities or S.Cs and S.Ts. The progress of such committees would be reviewed by convening their meetings twice a year at state level and thrice year at district level.
The meeting was attended by Union Minister of Social Justice Mr. Napoleon, State Minister of Heavy Industries Dr. J. Geetha Reddy, Ms. Sabitha Indira Reddy, Mr. Manikya Vara Prasad and higher officials of the Govt. of A.P.
