A 17-year-old died on the spot in a wrestling fight organised by local boys in Hyderabad.
College student Nabeel Ahmed died of injuries sustained during a friendly fist fight at Mirpet in Hyderabad. Incidentally, the entire fight was recorded on a mobile phone.
The incident occurred on 3rdMay where nearly 10 boys were present at the accident scene.
The boy’s father, who works in Dubai, rushed to Hyderabad upon knowing the incident. Suspecting foul play about his son’s death, the boy’s father lodged a complaint.
Following the complaint, police detained two other boys who were present during the mishap. On interrogation, they put in the picture that such fights were regularly organise in which two people face-off against each other in an open space.
When Nabeel died, the other boys tried to fool the family by telling his mother that he died in a bike accident. However, his father who works in Saudi Arabia rushed here and found things suspicious and lodged a complaint at Mirchowk police station.
The college students had placed bets on Nabeel and Mohammed. But the fight turned deadly as Mohammed mercilessly punched Nabeel on the head, chest and abdomen. Nabeel collapsed and died on the spot.
Later, a youth who recorded the fight until Nabeel collapsed and died gave the clip to police. In his statement he told the police, that seven friends had decided to hold the friendly wrestling match which ended in Nabeel’s death
A video tape was also recovered which shows the boy falling down to the ground after sustaining blows from his opponent.
According to the police, the boys who took the deceased to the hospital and informed his family that he died in a road accident and the family accepted their story.
