A ‘Right to Education awareness campaign’ was organised by Students Islamic Organisation here recently.
The main objective of the campaign was to create awareness among the masses regarding benefits provided to poor people, weaker sections and disadvantaged groups, under Right to Education (RTE) Act, especially regarding 25% free seats (pre-school or 1st std) reserved for them in private schools.
Various activities like distribution of handbills, announcements in almost forty mosques, field work etc were carried out in Shaik Roza area to guide needy people. Posters were used and street plays were organised in a slum near MSK mill area.
The public was also guided about the admission process through these activities. Social networking sites at an individual level were also used for this purpose. More than 120 people enquired about RTE through helpline numbers provided by SIO, Gulbarga.Courtesy: Karnataka Muslims
