Loosing Deposits Rahul baba congress have scored over saffron party BJP has increased its loosing deposit percentage from 42% in 2007 to 58% in 2012 .Congress didn’t just lose in 323 of the 351 seats it contested in Uttar Pradesh. In 247 of those, or about 68 per cent of its seats, the Congress candidates even forfeited their deposits.
The BJP fared only slightly better. Of the 398 candidates fielded by it, 230 lost their deposits, working out to 58 per cent of its candidates.
What should worry the BJP, however, is that even if it finished ahead of the Congress, the party’s performance was worse than in 2007, while the Congress has shown improvement and appears to be bridging the gap between them.
Five years ago, when the BSP had swept the elections, under 42 per cent of the BJP’s candidates had forfeited their deposits in the state — which has now seen a jump of 16 per cent.
In the Congress’s case, 82 per cent of its candidates (323 of 393) had lost their deposits. This has now fallen by 14 per cent.
In contrast, the proportion of candidates of the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party losing their deposits this time was very small and almost the same. While 53 of the SP’s candidates, or 13.2 per cent, fell in this category (an improvement from 70 last time), 52 in the BSP camp (around 13 per cent) forfeited their deposit. Last time, when Mayawati had won hands down, that number had been only 36.
Role of Muslim voters
UP results have opened up the eyes of secular national parties but all giving headache to Hindutava forces who were very confident that they will get a role in forming the future govt in UP and thus taking forward their agenda for 2014 Parliamentary elections.
Every one is taken a back if you look at early morning trends at around 8:30 SP was leading in 39 seats band BJP was at no 2 with 30 leading and BSP with 22 and Congress with 25 .On each and every channel all the channel presenters were so happy that both the National parties are doing very well and now the Mandal politics are gone.
This perspective of rich and upper classes shows their bias towards SC,BC and Minorities
or the record, of the 61 Muslim candidates who have won this time, 39 are from the SP and 12 from the BSP. There are four winners on tickets of the Congress- RLD combine. The Peace Party of India has got three MLAs and the Quami Ekta Dal has got two. One Muslim MLA is from the Itehad- ul- Millat.
Also, the SP won 72 of the 140 assembly seats where Muslims constitute more than 25 per cent of the population. The BSP won 37 seats and the Congress- RLD combine bagged 11.
Secular forces were able to get 120 seats from 140 seats where Muslims constitute 25% of population.BJP which always exploited anti-Muslim feeling and won from Muslim dominated area is angry and frustrated at the loss .
