When Governments started taking loans from World Bank and other financial organizations, they have started imposing many strange conditions in order to fulfill the terms of these organization. Earlier, in the name of reforms, electricity department was divided into various corporations. Initially, electricity tariff was enhanced to a marginal extend. The electricity dept. has evolved a new procedure to overburden the consumers. Instead of calculating bills for 30 days, it is now calculating for 40 days. Due to this system the energy charges are increased with the change of higher slab of the tarrif.
Mr. Mohsin bin Husain Al Kaseeri President of Consumers’ Awareness, Guidance and Enlightenment approached the District Consumers’ Disputes Redressal Forum against these manipulations of the Electricity Department. If other consumers also approach the forum, Electricity Department would be compelled to revise its tariff.
