Congress leader Ashok Choudhary on Thursday said that the Congress is up for a big alliance in Bihar and added that the main challenge for any political party in the state is to stop the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“The Congress party wants a big alliance but the intention of the supporting party should be clean. The first agenda of the party should be to stop the BJP as it is a big challenge. Our party as well as the supporting parties should be strong,” said Choudhary.
Earlier in the day, Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav said that the merging of the Janata Parivar will rid the nation of ‘wrong hands’.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav had earlier denied reports of growing differences between him and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
According to reports, the assembly polls in Bihar would be held most likely in September or October this year.
The BJP, which along with its allies had won 31 of the 40 seats in Bihar in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, is set for a battle against a united Janata Parivar comprising of the JD (U) and RJD. (ANI)
