Stop mob lynching: FIR against 49 intellectuals

New Delhi: On 16th July 2018, Supreme Court had ordered to take action against those who spread hatred through radio, TV and social media websites.

In this context, 49 concerned citizens of India wrote a letter to PM with an appeal to stop atrocities against Muslims, Dalits and other minorities.

Did they commit crime?

Did they commit any crime by writing this letter? Perhaps it is a crime in the minds of those who support mob lynching. This is the reason they got an FIR registered against these persons. It is alleged that these people have incited the sentiments of the people.

It may be noted that those who wrote this letter are not ordinary persons. Some of them are the recipients of Dada Saheb Phalke Awards.

For example, Mr. Shyam Benegal (84), Mr. Sumitra Chetarjee (84) and Gopala Krishna (78) received Dada Saheb Phalke Awards.

Mr. Sumit Sarkar, a historian of international repute is also one of the signatories of the letter.

Are they causing any danger to the security of the country or some forces are not tolerating their initiative? It is the matter to be decided by the citizens of India.
