Stop mining works, HC orders DK Aruna

The High Court today ordered immediate stalling of alleged quarry works in Mahbubnagar district. The mining company is named after Snighda Reddy, daughter of former minister D K Aruna and former MLA Bharatsimha Reddy.
The Mining department submitted to the High Court that the quarry company was taking up works beyond the limits and flouting the norms. Reacting on the petition, the court asked the quarry company to immediately stall the works. It is also learnt that the court slapped Rs 33 crore penalty on the company earlier for defying the norms.
The court is learnt to have expressed anguish over the State government for not collecting the penalty already slapped. The Court also said to have felt that it will collect the penalty amount if the mining officials failed to do so. According to informed sources, the company will move Supreme Court shortly seeking stay orders on the High Court verdict. (NSS)
