Stones of politics: Swami Chakrapani termed VHP drama as political gimmick

The arrival of the two trucks of stones in the temple city on last Sunday sparks a political debate on the construction of Ram temple.

Reacting to the arrival of stones at VHP headquarters, the Hindu Mahasabha leader has come out opposing the move and termed it as ‘political stone’ that VHP is taking there.

Congress, BSP and JD(U) accused the BJP and the RSS of attempting to “communally polarize” Uttar Pradesh as part of a “strategy” for the 2017 assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi on Tuesday, Swami Chakrapani said that “It is political stone that arrived at Ayodhya, VHP, Sangh Parivar and BJP must stop searching for political stone.”

I had said earlier in 2010 only that I can never support construction of a temple on dead bodies. I demanded fast-track court for the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi case so that we can build Temple under the law but not through communal politics.

Swami Chakrapani also condemned the alleged blasphemous remarks of Kamlesh Tiwari on Prophet (PBUH).

“I was saddened with remarks of Kamlesh Tiwari about Prophet Muhammad. I felt sad as much as I was when Aamir Khan disrespected gods and goddesses in PK film. If Kamlesh Tiwari had been with our organization, I would have removed him. He does not deserve to be called Hindu. Similarly if a Muslim disrespects other’s religion cannot be Muslim,” said Swami.

“There is a need for religious communities (Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs) to take a vow that they would not allow anyone to hurt others religion”, he added.

It is to be noted that Leaders of different faiths on Tuesday demanded that the government introduce strict laws for punishment to those resorting to violence in name of religion and spreading intolerance in the country.
