The State Government has taken a decision to speed up works of Warangal city Outer Ring Road for which stone will be laid on June 2. A notification to this effect will be released on March 4, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao said today.
At a review meeting at Secretariat here today, the ministers said Warangal will be developed on par with other cities. They expressed displeasure at one year delay in the works and directed the officials concerned to speed up the same. They also said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was keen on completing the ORR works enabling the people to get better road connectivity and infrastructure facilities. They directed the officials concerned to prepare a master plan for the project by 2018. The officials were instructed to prepare detailed project report and ensure that the 72km stretch road will have all facilities.
It was also decided to take steps to speed up land acquisition works involving MLAs and officials. They said the exercise related to notification should be completed by this month end and that of master plan by December. A master plan is to be prepared keeping in view future needs like radial roads, underground drainage, split roads, industrial area, IT Corridor, entertainment centers, safety zones and others. The plan will ensure a rest room at each 20 km, land acquisition at point of interchange, they said.
The local legislators should shoulder the responsibility of land acquisition to avoid problems, they said. To monitor the project and to speed up the works a monthly meeting by officials should be held in Warangal city involving Roads & Buildings, Municipal Administration Department Principal Secretary Navin Mittal, Commissioners and people’s representatives. Another meeting will be conducted to review the same at Warangal on March 4. The government was committed to develop other cities on par with Hyderabad and other modern cities, they said.
