Ankara, March 29: Turkish police have found a painting by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso which was stolen from the Kuwait National Museum during the Persian Gulf War.
According to Turkish newspaper Radikal, the $10-million artwork was found after a month of police operations in the western town of Balikesir.
Police say the canvas was stolen in 1991 and the 41-year-old Turkish citizen who held the painting has been arrested.
Picasso was a Spanish painter, draughtsman and sculptor, best known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles embodied in his work.
Guernica and Les Demoiselles d’Avignon (1907) are among his most famous works.
