The Central Crime Station of Viqarabad Police solved a four-month-old murder mystery with the help of a stolen cell phone.
Disclosing the details, Viqarabad Inspector Lachiram Naik said that an agriculturist Anantaiah was found murdered near Kutveypally of Ranga Reddy district on April 28. He was a resident of Baidupally near Dharur. Police had no clues to solve the case except for the information that the victim’s cell phone was missing which was switched off.
A team led by CCS Inspector Somnath began investigations into the case. A few days ago, the stolen cell phone was switched on. Based on tower location and call details, the police traced the user, identified as Sriram. During interrogation Sriram confessed of having murdered Anantaiah for cell phone.
