‘Steps should have been taken to replace demonetised money’

Kozhikode: Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today flayed the demonetisation exercise by the union government, saying adequate measures should have been taken to compensate it with new currencies.

“When 86 per cent of the money in the country is demonetised, adequate measures should have been taken to compensate it with new currencies,” he told reporters here.

He alleged that the BJP government was making the lives of the people miserable through its ‘ill-conceived move’.
