Hyderabad: Dy. CM of Telangana State, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali assured that Govt. of Telangana would take necessary steps for the restoration of Urdu medium in the graduation courses of Dr. Ambedkar Open University of Hyderabad.
It may be mentioned that various organizations had expressed their sorrow on the decision taken by university authorities for abandoning the facilities of Urdu medium in various graduate courses.
Mr. Mahmood Ali told that Govt. of Telangana under the stewardship of Mr. KCR is very serious about the promotion of Urdu language. He has announced more than once that Urdu would be given its proper place. He had also assured in the election manifesto that Urdu would be given the status of the second official language. In such a situation, the decision of the university to abandon the facility of Urdu medium is lamentable. He said that he would talk to Dy. CM and in-charge of Education Dept., Mr. Kadiam Sri Hari to ensure that Urdu medium facility is restored. An explanation would also be sought from the university as to who is responsible for abandoning this facility.
