Hyderabad: Dy. CM of Telangana State, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali told that TRS Govt. of Telangana is bound to develop Minorities and their language Urdu. Steps would be taken to introduce Urdu in all the Govt. schools. Govt. has setup residential schools for Minorities in which Urdu and Deeniyat are compulsory. He was addressing a function organized by Telangana State Urdu Academy on the occasion of Maulana Azad’s birthday to give awards to best teachers of Urdu and best Urdu students. The function was held at Indira Priya Darshini Hlls, Public Garden. These awards are given every year.
Continuing his speech, Mr. Mahmood Ali told that Andhra rulers did injustice to Muslims during 60 years of their tenure. They were unaware of Telangana Culture and Urdu language. They did not concentrate on promoting Urdu. They looted the resources of Telangana and made this region backward. Mr. KCR struggled for 14 years and got the State in a peaceful manner.
Speaking on this occasion, Home Minister, Mr. N. Narasimha Reddy paid rich tributes to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and said that he was a great freedom fighter and a patriot. He lamented that Urdu is not being promoted. He said that Urdu is a sweet language of love which is very strong. It is the duty of every citizen to protect it.
Mr. Mohammed Farooq Husain, MLC told that in 1985, in a function held at Siddipet, editor of Siasat Urdu Daily, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan had advised KCR to learn Urdu. Within a year, Mr. KCR mastered Urdu language through a teacher of Urdu and addressed Eid Milap function in 1986 in Urdu.
Mr. Mohammed Saleem, MLC appealed to the Muslims to learn Urdu in order to understand Quran. Mr. M.S. Prabhaker, MLC told that CM has allocated Rs. 1200 crore for Minorities which should be utilize properly. Mr. Jafar Husain, MLA advised the Govt. to improve the efficiency of Minorities institutions. Prof. S.A. Shukoor, Director of Urdu Academy welcomed the guests. Urdu teachers from school to University level were given awards. Toppers of SSC Urdu medium were also given awards. Later, qawali program was organized.
